I took a difference route than usual on my lunch break and soon happened upon a great background with someone standing right in front of it. When I approached and explained the project, she was happy to pose for me.
This is Maricle. She’s an instructor at a cosmetology school in the downtown core, and was taking a cigarette break with a co-worker to enjoy the afternoon sun. I like the dark background contrasting with her hair, and only moved her back a few steps to get out of the direct light. I really like the resulting dark, subdued tone set. I used the concrete as a fill reflector and as narrow a depth-of-field as I could manage with the lens I had with me.
