The warmer weather brought dramatically more people out on the streets, making it a bit easier to meet people. While wandering down the 8th Avenue mall, I noticed a very nicely dressed woman exit a building and stop near some shade. I approached and introduced myself, she seemed slightly bemused at my request to photograph her.
This is Wendy. She asked me a lot of questions about what I was doing and why. I explained to her this was my attempt at trying to be a friendly presence on the street, which sparked a great conversation. She told me that for her, life is about showing people love and kindness. Wendy was such a lovely woman to chat with, soft spoken and kind.
On a technical note, I switched camera systems and this was the first street portrait using the Olympus EM-1 with a 45mm f/1.8 lens.
