I saw this dignified gentlemen standing at a corner downtown. His white hair, coffee toned skin, and sharp blazer stood out from the crowd. I decided to approach and introduce myself. Right from the start, this was a bit of a different encounter. The gentlemen spoke with an accent, which I normally do not have issues understanding, but combined with his soft spoken manner and the ambient noise from the street I was not able to get his name. We chatted for a few minutes and I discovered he was trying to get himself to a medical appointment for his eyes, as they were giving him trouble. I ended up giving him a transit fare before photographing him right where he stood. As I felt he was anxious to go, I bid him farewell and continued on. It was an odd encounter that felt both long and brief. I hope he was able to get to his appointment on time.
